New Order Poster
New Order are an English rock band formed in 1980 in Salford, Greater Manchester. The founders of the group were the remaining members of Joy Division after the singer committed suicide.
The original line up was of Bernard Sumner (vocals, guitars, keyboards and synthesisers), Peter Hook (bass and vocals) and Stephen Morris (drums, electronic drums, keyboards and synthesizers) who complete the band with Gillian Gilbert, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman.
New Order has combined post-punk with electronic dance music becoming one of the most critically acclaimed and influential bands of the 1980s.
Among their albums and singles stand out the band's 1983 hit "Blue Monday", the best-selling 12-inch single of all time, and ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’.
New Order kept signed with label that signed Joy Division, Manchester-based independent record label Factory Records.
The group disbanded in 1993 and reunited in 1998. In 2007, Peter Hook left the band which has kept playing without him till now.
